Nitrates pose potential threat to Lake Superior

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN — Nitrate levels continue to rise in Lake Superior, which contains 10 percent of the Earth’s supply of surface fresh water, and push lake water closer toward being considered unsafe to drink, according to a May 31 University of Minnesota press release.
