Chromium leak from factory near public wells near Great Bend Kansas

GREAT BEND, KS — Chemicals are getting close to public water wells here after they leaked through a nearby factory’s ventilation system, a September 20 KWCH story reported.

The Plating Inc. plant ran for 20 years and has now been closed for a month. Dan Wells of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said chromium vapors came out of its ventilation pipe and got into the soil.
